Basic recommended terms for estimates and invoices?

Hi all,

Can anyone advise me or point me in the direction of a set of simple terms and conditions that would be considered the minimum necessary for covering myself when estimating and invoicing for services (in my case web development).

I don't want to scare off clients with a 20-page dissertation of legalese, but at the same time I want to be sure I'm covering the bases for my own peace of mind and theirs.

Even just some pointers on Dos and Don'ts would be appreciated.

You should state that all goods remain the property of X until paid in full. All intellectual property remain the property of X unless explictly assigned

You should consider getting all clients to agree to your terms and conditions of business before starting any work for them and put on your invoice 'subject to our terms and conditions of business'
