Hi Everyone,
A common question I am asked a lot by colleagues in work and I don’t know the answer, and even our Managers are not sure but enforce the following...
We are instructed at the beginning of the year to book all Bank Holidays off, out of our annual holiday entitlement thus reducing the amount we have left.
The problem arises as all of the company sites and all parts of the business are closed and shut down in their entirety on bank holidays - so even if anyone wanted to work them there is no possibility of doing so as the whole company nationwide is on shutdown.
As the company cannot find anything for you to do on a Bank Holiday and it is an enforced shut down - should bank Holidays be deducted from your statutory holiday allowance?
Any feedback would be grateful
Regards
