Are capital gains counted as income by tax credits?

Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this or even if anyone will know, but there is no harm in asking.

I just want to know whether capital gains (with entrepreneurs relief) is counted as income for child tax credits?

When I phoned their helpline they didn't even know what capital gains were.

I would say yes because its classed as income, its just the amount of taxation paid that is different.

Problem with the Tax Credits helpline is they don't understand the complexities of the tax system system with people who are self employed or employed (if you are a director).
