Hi

I'm a sole trader and run a website and attend trade shows. I'm in the process of getting a GeoTrust True Business ID to give my customers more confidence in the security of the site.

I received an email today from them saying that they can't verify my business and need documentation to go ahead. The documents that they will accept are:

A. Valid Business License or Business Registration document
B. Articles of Incorporation or Certificate of Incorporation
C. Articles of Organization or Formation
D. DBA (Doing Business As), Fictitious Business Name, Trade Name, or Assumed Name registration
E. Charter Documentation (For Banks, Universities and Government Agencies) These documents must show proof they have been properly filed by the appropriate government, state or county authority.

I don't have any of these so am a bit stumped as to what to do now. I've sent an email to GeoTrust asking them, but wondered if anyone here has gone through something similar, or has any advice? I'd thought about setting up a doormat ltd company and sending the certificate of incorporation for that, but I'm not sure whether they would accept it if I'm not actually trading as a ltd company.

Any clues?

Cheers

You are a sole trader so they will want proof of who you are and what you are trading as. So I would imagine it will be a scan of a passport along with an invoice from a supplier with the trading name and your address on.

You need your postal address on your site, couldn't see it.
