Hmmm.
I think it's important not to get giddy with excitement.
Harrods is a nice shop and will be good for the OP in terms of building the brand if nothing else, but in the end it's just one shop.
As none of us are privy to the terms of the agreement it is impossible to judge how good a result this is for the OP.
That said he/she seems happy so let's assume it's good news and say good luck.
I'll look out for the Chocolate when I do my Christmas shopping.

£700m turnover, 5 acre site, worldwide reputation for quality items such as gold laden chocolates. Access to contacts for PR in innumerable 'A' List magazines............

'Just one shop'..............Lol:p

I do see Lee's point though. Obviously the Op has done incredibly well to be stocked in such a prestigious location but some members do seem to be getting a little carried away.
Maybe its due to the fact that on these forums its rare to find someone who actually has a proper business. When someone appears who actually has a product that is selling everyone goes a bit crazy.

Someone joked earlier that they would be happy to be stocked in Primark, which to be honest would be just as commendable an achievement as Harrods if you are after volume sales as a small business.

Maybe if this thread is too exciting for some people they should get out a bit more and meet people who actually run proper businesses.

I wouldn't swap my businesses for what the Op is doing and I suspect Lee and probably and handful of others on here wouldn't either.

The Chocolate, congratulations, the pr opportunities available to you now are immense. :)

I looked at the rate card a few weeks ago for Vogue it was something like 180k for an ad! so a mention in there is huge!

I think you defiantly have the right plan as well, getting associated with other luxury brands.

Maybe not carried away, but a genuine 'heart felt' congratulations, for someone who has a product that has been recognised by one the most 'famous' stores in the Country - if not the World.
If that is not an accolade I am not sure what is.

At this present moment in our economic climate, I would not like to bet how many business owners would not like to trade places.

Please some of you, stop raining on this persons parade, anyone would think you had a case of the little green eyed monster.;)

Oh, how we Brits like to knock people back down to Earth with a bang...:D

I'm not raining on anyone's parade. I recognised what an achievement it is and congratulated the Op on his success.
My post was in response to the more excitable posts that seem to suggest to me that some people need to get out more.;)

I must be missing something, there is a lot of talk about negative posts etc but there seem to be no negative posts? Any chance of pointing them out?

It's not raining on a parade to point out that simply getting into even somewhere as prestigious as Harrods is unlikely to greatly affect your bottom line... as a stepping stone yes but the direct sales from Harrods are unlikely to be great, presumably.

I doubt the OP can give any idea of the order placed?

oh Stretchy ..... don't be so level headed: makes you sound like a businessman/woman.
What's wrong with a bit of excitement? I'd prefer to be excited about my success obviously, but no reason why you can't be delighted for someone else too!

I think our happiness shows in our personalities Doodles, I am a happy person anyway -as I suspect you are.

I get excited about only paying £1 for something from the Poundshop, when down the road it would have cost me 1.01:D

Someone else's success is NO hardship to me, it is lovely to read about.
I am sick of all this doooooooooom and gloooooooom!

Ah yes, makes perfect sense.
Milk and honey for everyone I say, whilst shouting 'toodle pip' (sp)?

It's like that saying 'you cannot have your cake and - eat it'? So, what is the point of making/buying it?:|

Have fun, be happy, pleased, and once in a while laugh a little (good for the old blood pressure)!

I am only envious because they are out of my price league (at the moment);) never say - never is my motto!

But, on the plus side, when I get handed down a copy of Vogue, and see the advertising I will be able to.. smile - knowingly.

Excellent, well done!

Don't let anyone rain on your parade. Keep doing what you're doing, you're obviously doing it right.

How can he possibly be doing it right? The OP was asking for simple advice if anyone had experience of a meeting with Harrod's or similar.

Why he would then not welcome with open arms all the advice he has been given on how he should re-arrange his website, rename his product, improve his Google rankings etc from all the industry experts that frequent this forum. Good God he's only got his products in a corner shop, anyone could that.

Long way to go Mr the Chocolate, not sure why you are messing about with the one off shops when you could be so much more by changing your website or product name. You have a lot to learn and as such should probably spend more time on forums and less in pointless meetings.

What extra sensory perception allows one to make sweeping statements such as 'unlikely to greatly affect your bottom line'?

Whilst you have a very pretty name Yasmine, would you take advice from someone who can't read?

Nope, he done fine without your spamming help. If you had read the thread and not just the first post you would know that. You seem to skimp a bit on facts and research for a business adviser.

EDIT
Sorry Lee posted at the same time to the same effect.

Are your choccies selling well? Waaaaaaaaaay out of my price range (I'm more a Maltesers kinda gal!) but they do look beautiful, I'm sure they must be very desirable, Harrods shoppers are probably looking for exactly that sort of indulgent luxury at Christmas .......hope it's the success you hoped it would be!

You got more class then me Dot Doodles, I am a wine gum gal!

OP hope your choccies fall of the shelves (into shoppers arms/baskets) that is.;)

This thread always makes me smile for some reason. Good luck with it all !!

I absolutely love the way you have pitched yourselves, and I think at the level you are, you are almost recession-proofed, since the average Joe Public won't be your customer base.

Niche hit squarely on the head mefinks !!
