Interesting that you openly state that you are feeding a cash cow and you intend to sell the site as an ongoing resource once it's worth any money (£350K+)

I'm interested to know WHY you would say that?

    regards
    James.

Honesty is the best policy the aim of the business is to become a one stop shop for marketing advice and to be honest the reason we have grown so quickly is due to the fact that it is free all round.

It is a business that is a long term investment and will produce a revenue but only when it is sold as there is a large amount of competition and we needed to stand out hence the reason it is free.

Also the fact that the journalist put our conversation into his own words. I think cash cow and ongoing resource was maybe not a great pick of words.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    Dave

Excellent article Dave, well done (also to the Yeti too, as they always tend to come up trumps).

I don't think the 'cash cow' portion is that unusual - the UKSMF is there to provide the support that business needs, so once it reaches a certain size, it will require that someone monetizes it in order for it to continue growing, and the originators will recoup their costs (plus profit) from the project at that stage. This is accepted as a way forward for such sites, and will prove that the original authors know what they are doing as regards S&M when they sell it on.
