2 domains? is it beneficial?

hi all, would it be beneficial to have 2 domain names, both with excellent keywords in them both pointing at the same website? how could i make this beneficial to my website? having the 2 domains also wipes out potential competitiors aswell

Have two different websites though with slightly different content but both selling the same thing. THen it would benefit as there would be twice the online exposure.

There is little point having two badly performing websites. I always think its best to SEO one properly. Let's face it, you would only need one if it scored well!

Well if you had both professionaly SEO'd to the same level, then surely you have twice the exposure?

This will not be at all beneficial. The search engines index web pages not domain names.

Don't set up two separate websites, you're asking for trouble not only would you be badly ranked but you could run the risk of disappearing completely from Google and your organic SEO would suffer!

Having two domain names shouldn't cause a problem providing they are key word specific to the content on the website.

You could of course create a subdomain and link between the two. Google sees subdomains as separate websites on the same server (even though they are not obviously) so it would atleast count as a relevant link in between and feel like you are pulling the wool over big G's eyes! (even though your not!)

Obviously I am talking sites and not purely domains.
