    1) Never ever trust a customer who says "you can trust me".

    2) Customers who contact you during abnormal hours are usually trouble. Sorry but that is my experience. Avoid these customers at all costs. Quality customers stick to 9-5pm Mon to Fri.

    3) Cheap looking marketing will attract cheap customers like flies to sh!t.

    4) Be nice. It really does pay off.

    5) Never ever offer a discount unless offering a reason also. Otherwise, customers will think you were trying to flagrantly rip them off.

    6) You never know who you're speaking to on the phone. Try to keep things civil no matter how annoying the [email protected] is.

    7) Biggest is not always best in terms of suppliers.

    8) Google Ad Words is easy but expensive marketing. Don't become a Google Ad Words addict. Good marketing is diversified marketing. The most successful military campaigns of history used land, sea and air.

    9) Just because your competitors are doing it, it does not mean it is right. Many companies have been sunk by emulating the bad strategies of their competitors.

    10) Marketing is a process. The real goal of marketing making your brand fresh in consumers heads and staying relevant.

    11. Never whistle with your mouth full of pie.

    12. Never wear celluloid collars - they're a fire hazard.

    Couldn't agree more.

However, I would add an eleventh:

    11. Never trust a business contact who, out of the blue, feels the need to tell you that you and he (or she) are friends.

Callum keeps posting sh1te, presumably for the post count so that they can post links.

    The moderators aren't bothered, however.
