Original Post:

Hi everyone,

We are exploring ways to enhance our services and better support our clients with their accounting needs. Specifically, we are interested in:

  1. Effective Strategies: What strategies have worked for you in improving accounting efficiency and accuracy?
  2. Technology Integration: How have you leveraged technology to simplify accounting tasks and reporting?
  3. Client Communication: Any tips on maintaining clear and effective communication with clients regarding their financial matters?

We appreciate any advice or experiences you can share. If you have any recommendations for tools or best practices that have benefitted your business, we would love to hear them.

For me; I would expect my accountant to answer 1 and 2 for me, and indeed they did. They originally connected me with a freelance bookkeeper and eventually helped with the hiring of our finance manager we have now.
Technology, I let that be driven by the person doing it. It doesn't matter to me what software they use as they are the ones using it. We look for as much automation as possible, and again I expect my accountant to have knowledge to share on that.

Communication: Take me out to the rugby once in a while, or to the 20/20 cricket, or out for a curry. Nothing more complicated than that. And while we're slowly getting more and more intoxicated, tell me something important is changing in tax legislation I need to be aware of. That'll work for me.

I'd have thought these question @JRBrown are better directed at accountants than small businesses.

I'm not interested in how you do my accounts, the technology you use or how you communicate. As a business owner I just need you to do your job in a timely manner.

This might be a better place to get answers from accountants:

I am more concerned that they are having to ask.

I think you'd be better asking on AccountingWeb.
