I would say google pay per click with very defined target area would be the way forward, you can switch it on and off as required, if you look like bookings are slowing simple start the campaign again until your busy. :)
Depends is the best answer - how many products do you think you will have on your site, if it say 20 - 40 then I would say it's on the high side, if you said 4000 - 5000 then I would say it's on the ok side.
As for ongoing cost's depends on keywords but would say if they do the design...

I like the program in the main, but not really sure they should also have a big name company in each show, if a company like Cadbury's cannot sort themselves out to take on another country what hope is there for the rest.
