Where to find a silent partner for minor investment

Hi Guys,

I am working on a really cool web project that is based in quite a niche area. The site will be launched next week and we are confident because of the content it covers and the way in which it works/looks that we'll very quickly attract a lot of visitors and therefore advertining revenues.

I have worked on a few sites now so am being realistic with this forcast.

The site is a social network type site that looks the business and is focused on an area that is very much in demand, we feel.

I am looking for a silent partner (although feedback would be hugely appreciated from time to time) for a £500 investment on the project. The money is to upgrade our hosting package, etc as the site needs the right amount of bandwidth and space from the off to work as it should.

I'd be looking to give 25% of the website rights away for this investment.

People will no doubt tell me to get a bank loan, ask friends and family and use my own credit for this instead of giving away 25% but I am about maxed on all of my credit with banks, family, etc on a number of different newly-launched projects, hence the need for the small investment on this one.

For such a small investment, does anyone have any ideas where i could begin looking. Angel investers wouldnt be interested due to the small scale of investment, despite the healthy returns. I'm a bit stumped on this one.

Thanks for your help guys.

I'll have a look at Crowd Funding but I imagine its quite a lengthy process. I was hoping to get up and running next week but guess I dont have much choice but to wait!

Sure - good question! In my experience, although I'm only after a small investment, it is still classed as high risk so an investor would want quite a worthy return for their money. That's why I'm happy to give away 25%. I'm not greedy. I've got my fingers in a number of pies now and just enjoy the process of launching a site, making it look and work great and attracting vistors, therefore making the site. I'm not money driven personally, i just like making sites profitable. Sharing is caring!

Back to this one. £500 isn't worth anyone's time, and the fees would make it ridiculous.

Perhaps find a web company to partner you? (But remember they will largely be awash with offers like this).

I didn't realise people invested at this level as it is akin to a personal loan to buy say a new pc or something...

I know the circumstances but interesting to see.

I would be interested to know more about this social network and the niche it deals with, I think a big thing for me or indeed anyone looking to invest would be just how good the site is.
