Should I add VAT on invoice?

    Hi

Basically I quoted £100 to make a video for a business. They now want me to invoice them, and am starting to regret not mentioning it would be £100 not including VAT.

I am kind of new to business, so should I just learn from this and take it on the chin - or should I be cheeky and put on the invoice £100 excluding VAT so they would have to pay £120 in total?

    Cheers!

Did you tell them you are vat registered? Is it shown on your letter head, web site etc?

I'm not VAT registered yet, but I plan on keeping all my receipts/invoices for when I do become VAT registered next year.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, then what is the point in keeping all my documents for when I do become VAT registered then?

If you do the work prior to your VAT registration and you backdate your registration you will have the option of taking the VAT from the £100 or sending a further invoice for £20 VAT.

I presume you are keeping your receipts etc to help compile your year end accounts? It's nothing to do with VAT...
