    Is there such a thing as remote employment?

    For example, your employer is located in another country (like USA) but you don't need to move to that country to work and can remain where you are (like UK) as if the employer's local.

    There is a website called topTal it should be a great way to have a remote job.
    Not sure how good they are now, but they used to be good.

    Yes and thanks to high speed internet connections this is more common than ever. There are even companies which only employ remote workers, without any central office. Communication can be made via tools such as Basecamp, Slack, Google Hangouts, etc. It also seems quite common for remote businesses to have an annual holiday which allows everyone to meet up in person too.

    In most cases there is an office and you'll often be expected to spend a few weeks or even months at their office to integrate with the company and your team better before continuing to work full time from home.

    I just employ remote workers. we communicate via skype/email/phone. Works really well and the employees are happy. They can also choose the hours they want, as long as they fit in 37.5 hours per week.
