Hi there.

We ship several hundred cars every year both into and out of the UK.

There are ro/ro shipping services from various ports in Brazil to Tilbury.

We do not have a local agent in Brazil but if you are buying from a bona fide vehicle dealer there they will probably be able to get the vehicle on a ship for you.

Once the ship arrives in the UK we can arrange customs clearance on your behalf and delivery (if required).

You would have to pay import duty and VAT on importation. The duty rate for cars is usually 10% but does depend on the model/age/
engine size etc. Duty is calculated on the cost of the vehicle including shipping and marine insurance costs.

VAT at 15% (increasing to 17.5% in January) is calculated on the cost of the vehicle plus shipping, marine insurance, the import duty and also an HM Customs allowance for UK landing charges.

As has been mentioned previously the vehicle will have to undero an SVA/MOT test before it can be registered/driven on UK roads. Your local VLO will be able to give you more information/advice on this.

Hi,

I have looked into this as well as I am half Brazilian and a car trader, there are certain models I know would have special interest here. I found real difficulty in finding a shipping company that was prepared to manage the shipment from Brazil due to rampant corruption and smuggling.

I wish you luck and would be interested to know how you get on.

Thanks
