    This area has been set up to provide a dedicated space for people who are currently employed to gain a perspective on employment / HR queries relevant to SMEs from business owners themselves. If you have a query, discussion or piece of advice that you feel is appropriate, feel free to add it here.

    If you’re an employee with a question about your particular situation, we recommend you consider a few things before posting:

    • Has your question already been answered? The search function can help you out here. Have a look to see if any similar queries have already been raised. The solution may already be available.

    • How does your question relate to SMEs? As an employee rather than a business owner, you need to make sure that your question is relevant to the people who will be seeing it. Many UKBF members employ staff and may have encountered a similar situation to yours but they’re not always in a position to answer all specific HR queries. We always welcome the opportunity to discuss any interesting and relevant topics, however.

    • Is there a better way to address your dispute? UKBF is not the place to air personal grievances against a company and may be removed by the moderation team. If you feel you are being mistreated in your job or have an on-going dispute with your employer, we always recommend you follow it up through the most appropriate and direct channels and, if require, consult an independent HR advisor and/or solicitor for expert advice.
