The founders of four of Bristol and Southwest of England’s most exciting entrepreneurial small businesses will speak at a free business event to be held in Bristol on Wednesday 4th November.

‘Sharing the Secrets of Startup Success’ will feature Rachel Flanagan, founder Mrs Bucket Cleaning Services who started the business alone and now has over 250 cleaners, Helen Hopkins, founder Pudding Bridge which has won an award at The Wedding Industry Awards 2015, Matt North, founder Full Court Press and author of the acclaimed book, Coffee - A Modern Field Guide, Kris Fleming and Chris Gordon, co- founders of Cornish Ketchup.

Part of a programme of events touring the UK and run by business support website Smarta.com in partnership with Santander, ‘Sharing the Secrets of Startup Success’ is aimed at encouraging more people to start their own business by providing inspiration, practical insights and professional support from those who have been there and done it.

Matt Thomas, co-founder of Smarta and host on the night, said: “At Smarta we believe the best way to achieve anything in life is to surround yourself with successful people who have already done it. That’s why we’re giving you the opportunity to put yourself in a room with four incredible entrepreneurs growing really exciting businesses.

“If you’re serious about starting your own business and living life on your terms, this is a unique opportunity to meet, hear from and ask your questions to the very people who know what it takes.”

In addition to hearing the speakers’ startup stories, attendees will have the opportunity to network with and book a free 15 minute Startup Chat with an experienced Santander business manager for practical feedback on their business ideas and plans.

There will also be complimentary drinks and nibbles for what promises to be a night of frenzied business networking and discussion at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Bristol.

Attendees can book for free, by visiting:

Rachel Flanagan, founder Mrs Bucket Cleaning Services

Rachael Flanagan set up Mrs Bucket Cleaning Services 10 years ago at the age of 18 with just £20 worth of leaflets, a Hoover and a staff of just herself.

Today she now has more than 250 employees working for the business and it has greatly expanded from a domestic cleaning service to commercial cleaning with a wide client base from large companies such as Mercedes, Hamley’s, Aston Martin, TFP and Land Rover.

Matt North, founder Full Court Press

2 years ago, Mat North opened Full Court Press, a small specialist multi roaster coffee shop in the heart of Bristol. His knowledge, passion and attention to detail ensured FCP quickly became a forerunner in the city’s scene.

It is FCP’s excellent customer service, coupled with the team’s ability to articulate their extensive knowledge in an approachable way that has ensured Full Court Press not only serve exceptional coffee, but have sparked an interest in specialty coffee among their customers.
He is also the author of the acclaimed book, Coffee - A Modern Field Guide, which was launched at the end of 2014 and can now be found the world over.

Kris Fleming and Chris Gordon, co- founders of Cornish Ketchup

The Cornish Ketchup Company was founded by two friends with a passion for great food.
Kris Fleming and Chris Gordon, from Truro wanted to create a food company to produce high quality condiments with the aim of using local growers and manufacturers.

The Cornish Ketchup Company launched in May 2014 with four different flavours all of which are a variation of the original tomato ketchup recipe. They have been designed to compliment the food they are served with rather than masque their flavour like some leading brands.

    Helen Hopkins, founder Pudding Bridge

Pudding Bridge is a hire company like no other, supplying decorative items for stylish weddings and events throughout the UK.

The business has gone on to become the UK’s leading supplier of sequin tablecloths, all proudly made by hand in the South West and collect numerous awards, including the The Wedding Industry Awards 2015 ‘Best Wedding Special Touch’.
