Whistle Ink

Hi everyone!

My name is Paresh and i'm from Manchester. I have just set up a business selling original inkjet and toner cartridges - but focusing on remanufactured / compatible ones. I will be hoping to sell to businesses.

As theres a lot of ppl here already who have established businesses I hope I can get a few tips and give some tips out as well!!

Thank you!

Welcome Paresh,

nice to see another business not solely related to web designs.

I agree Phil. I am shocked at not how many web design companies there are - but the quality of websites produced. I have seen some local web design companies produce some pretty awful stuff. I guess it's true that you get what you pay for - but even a simple website doesn't need to be hideous does it? (Mines hideous at the moment - I did it myself).

These small businesses are being represented on the web very poorly and being charged £150 for one very long page with a distracting background and no imagination.

The good designers are well worth paying for - if you can afford it. I'm currently trying to get my graphic designer friend to do it cheap for me. The best thing to do is look at the portfolio, and if they don't have one, get them to do a sample design - concept designs.

Hi Whistle Ink - welcome to the board!!

I share your view of how many web designers there are out there offering "micky mouse" services without a portfolio. As a web designer myself it is a real battle to find a position for our business.

For example, we got a brochure through from one agency who charged thousands of pounds for their services - and didnt back it up with any past examples of work. And i've heard they're doing alright, unfair!!

Rant over - good luck to you and I wish you all the best. Hope it all works out.

Oh give the web designers a break! Some a very good, and it is the same in any industry - you get someone thinking "I can do that" and set a company producing really bad results. The problem with web design is that it is so public!

Anyway Paresh, welcome to the forums!
