My 0844 phone number company is rubbish - need some advice on what to change too

    I got myself a free 0844 number with call whisper (says a quick message before it connects the call so I know it is business and not personal) and a voicemail service.

    They haven't sorted out the problems I have been having with the voicemail so I've decided to try and find a better solution. So I'm looking for a similar service, free 0844 number or some such (so I don't need to pay for incoming calls) and call whisper and a simple voicemail. Does anyone have any recommendations?

    There are plenty of companies out there, why not just google "free 0844 number".

    Personally I don't like them as you are making potential customers pay to call you - with all due respect, are you worth that much?

    Stick with a local number via Skype who can provide call forwarding/voicemail until you are big then go with a freephone number. That's just my two cents.

    That is what I did and resulted in the situation I am in now.

    Exactly. I'm trying to channel customers down the e-mail route of contact. If they really want to phone they can but e-mail is preferred.

    I've looked at that site in the past but frankly I found it overwhelming and confusing. I have very little knowledge of telephony.

    You can pick up the phone and speak to them - to get accurate advice.

    If you go to a site where things aren't "complicated" (or full of features and useful services), you're just going to get into the same mess you're in now.

    You don't even have to learn anything - just get in contact with Voipfone, and they'll help you through it all.

    We can provide a free 0870 number (or possibly an 0843 - although we don't advertise this yet) which can be diverted to your landline or mobile. I would advise against it though because 70% of potential customers won't call any 08 number (except 0800).

    For £1.99 per month you can have a normal geographic number that everyone understands.
