The results I've seen make it far too USA centric.

Even though I am in the GB part of the search engine for most of the terms I searched for 9 out of 10 were USA based.

I won't be using it again.

Hi Steve

That is because it is in beta and it is US centric. I suspect strongly that they will get that sorted if it flies and I also suggest that it was only a matter of time before search engines changed. Google will be watching I am sure.

I also have no intention of using it, yet! However, I had no intention of using google several years ago.

The whole web experience has got to change from being SEO/word driven to more visual/video driven as in a on demand tv channel

I am seeing signs of this everywhere. Some businesses will adapt early and be the winners others will play catch up.

The above are only my thoughts and could be complete rubbish, I am wrong much more often than I am right:)

google makes the money it uses to power its search computers through adwords.

If this search engine were to run its own "adwords" program, how would that work? nobody would be ever click on the adverts if they could hover over and see the page at the side.

It is way too messy IMO. Try scrolling down the search results, and it loads every page that your mouse passes. Thats a major problem for anyone who is used to scrolling with the mouse wheel.

nice attempt from someone, but I can't see it catching on.

If they want to be the worlds number one search engine, they might find it a bit hard to achieve that if they are on a shared server with over two thousand other sites...

It's an old idea not very well executed.

Right side takes forever to load and then leaves out things like style sheets.
What 'web designers dream' has to do with it I do not know.

Just enter the domain name (not the full URL) and you will see all sorts of useful data.

It's also good for checking IP adresses.

If someone made this work it is a web designers dream because design takes will be more important.

When you scroll down each site is seen on the right. Good design that converts will result in a click. Bad design will not.

At present we are focused on words until we open the page. How many people open a web page then instantly leave? This would mean those that opened the site were impressed with the offering.

Utter garbage, a poor mans "hover over" link explorer. This would have been good 10 years ago maybe....and that's only a maybe.

Wasn't Google already playing with the idea of showing thumbnails/previews of sites in it's search results?

Ask Jeeves, Exalead, Zoom, Alexa. All have tried and it as you will know they have taken market share, knocking google off top slot and revolutionised website design.

Melpoo doesn't do this, it actually visits the site and displays it in a frame. Well, half of it anyway. If this became popular this could bugger up your stats in the same way that AVG8 visits every time you do a search.

Yes, Google or ex-Google employees. I can't find the link right now (or remember what the project was called) which shows how popular it was(n't).
