Hey guys, just doing some general rooting and looking for assistance!

The company I have just joined uses a site called ukplc (www.uk-plc.net) to host our downloadable products, and take payments for both downloads, and hardcopies. (yes we sell books)

However, if any of you have heard of them, you should also know they are rather unreliable, and so we are seeking other alternatives.

Aside going through worldpay and hosting the downloads ourselves, is anyone here familiar with any other e-commerce site that provides similar services.

Any help apriciated.

Regards
Jonathan

I used ukplc to register my business which went fine. I don't use them for anything else though. I just received an email from them saying they are changing their servers to a new data centre.

I know that osCommerce allows you to provide downloadable products to seel plus "physical" products. This is mainly aimed for running the website yourself and hosting with someone, but I am sure you will find some companies that provide osCommerce out of teh box and ready to run.
As for taking payment, osCommerce does work with a large number of different payment providers not just Worldpay.

I have done a quick Google for oscommerce hosting and the front page has given me...
NetExplorers
Three Spires
Seiretto
Then last but not least our sponsors for the hosting of this forum also provide osCommerce hosting ;) Transnexis

I hope this is of help,

OScommerce is good - we provide it to customers and everyone so far is quite happy with it. It requires quite a bit of work to get it fully customised - especially if the client has no real idea what they want!
The good thing about it if you know anyone or the people you use have people with php skills then new modules can be done relatively easily.

This means you can pretty much customise it as you wish - one which I have used and many seem to (and not a customer of ours but one we use as an example of successful OScommerce to clients) is clickgroove.com which allows software ( in this case mp3 files) to be downloaded / purchased.
