We are a CCTV company based in the south west.....Up until recently we have relied on business development thro exisiting relationships however
we now have outsourced a marketing brochure design and print BUT to keep costs down we will send them out to our end customers...

What I need is software that I can store details of customers on with a record of discussion and then simply print out letters & envelops with customers details on.....What is the most cost effective software to use . Please understand that IT abilitiy is not a strongpoint!

Yep, you could look at ACT! and GoldMine to start with. Check www.prior-analytics.com it has a "test drive" so you can try GoldMine and see if you like it.

Hi Max,

Depends on your requirements & budget.

If by 'record of discussion' you mean audio or video than you may need some complex software, thats upgradeable and comes with extra features, but if you mean just written text,and a small customerbase (and not looking to expand into 1000's) and you're on a small budget then you could just as well go for something simple and cheap.

The Simple and cheap option
For example, a spreadsheet like Microsoft Excel. You can just add column headers with Name, Address & other customer info. as required to this spreadsheet. You could have a separate Microsoft Word document 'mail-merged' to the spreadsheet. The 'fields' in the Word doc. (e.g. a letter with Name, Address, etc.) would be linked to the columns in the spreadsheet, so you could, for eample, print letters addressed to specific customers as required.

P.S. If you don't already have Microsoft Office installed on your PC, use the free 'Open Office'. Google it!

Look on ebay you might be able to get an older version for peanuts which will still do what you need.
