Ebid.net ? Does anyone use it?

It's everything you could wish for, just like ebay use to be, low fees, plenty of products. However, it misses two vital ingredients in the mix, buyers and advertising itself. After one sale in six months I gave it up as a waste of time.

Same here, tried it for a couple of months but no sales and no traffic. Most people still use ebay...

Another part of the problem I see with it is that it's full of those who have been kicked off ebay with their bad selling practices and dodgy products too. eBay is still far from perfect, but it's made some good progress this year. No, I don't like the fees either, but there's nothing like it for traffic and being able to shift old stock quickly.

As above really. I've had products on there since July and they have only had 7 or so views. Was quite excited when I found it but soon lost interest

I used it a few years back and it seemed to be more active then, last time i looked it was pretty dead and not worth the time in listing things.

The only thing I notice is that you have all tried it, but that was before October when Greedbay hiked up their fees to a ridiculous level?!

Really, I'm paying less than ever and still taking as much money.

Look at this this way. To get the best out of ebay you have to play things their way, trying to fight whatever direction it's going is pointless and will get you nowhere. If you don't want to take PayPal fine, but given it's more or less the standard payment method on ebay and in a lot of categories a required or only option what's the point of trying to fight it.

There's been massive changes this year, probably more than in the last 8 or so years I've been selling on there, learn how it all works together, sell in the way ebay want and the rewards are still there. Trying to fight against it is as I've already said is pointless.

I rarely read the Powerseler board on ebay, i've far better ways to use my time making money on ebay and other places to worry about a handful of moaners and whingers.

There are too many ridiculous rules on ebay now that just dont exist on ebid.

Agreed in some ways it's become far more complex than many places, but eBay has got rid of a lot of bad sellers and their poor customer service, though it still has a way to go. What happened to ebay before it cleaned up it's act this year will happen to eBid at some future time.

Have the right product at the right price and sell the way eBay want and the rewards are still there. I'm very select what I sell on ebay now, it's great for shifting dead or slow moving stock but there's no way I'd sell newer better prime stock on it now, I use my web site for far better margins on that stock.

I'm going to give Ebid it a try, its UK based at least, not some thieving company based in Switzerland that loves to dip into our bank accounts and relieve us of large amounts of cash whenever it feels like it! lol!

That's the same sort of thing I kept seeing posted on a lot on the ebid forums, a general knocking of eBay while desperatly trying to sell things on ebid. I've yet to find any decent business seller that's had a fraction of the same success on eBid as they did on eBay.

While people may moan and whing how bad ebay is they still continue to list on it, why because unless you have you own web site it's still the place to sell on-line.

Incidentally, been reading the power sellers unite forum and their view of the current success of ebay is very different to you guys? there are plenty of very pissed off power sellers over there

For the simple reason those that are doing well and working it to their advantage are doing so, those that can't seem to want to find a common place to join in blame someone else for their failure.

eBay is a selling platform, while it continues to make me money I'll use it. The day it becomes unprofitable I'll stop using it. Those relying on ebay for all or most of their income are foolish in the extreme, there's a whole big wide world out there, they should be blaming themselves for putting all their faith in one route to market, not ebay. eBay will do what's best for itself and it's shareholders.

I really don't get this emotional attachment some people have to ebay and why they seem to think it owes them anything? It a selling platform and a service provider, the same as any other service provider, web host, telecoms, ISP, etc. if it doesn't come up to the mark as with any other service provider I use I'll go elsewhere, but it sure as heck won't be ebid.

The important point being over there on ebay, for a good reason.

silvermusic makes many good points, I use ebay a fair bit, it is just one method to market, their playing field and their rules. I have also saved a lot in fees since the changes with no adverse effect on profits, apart from a couple of weeks whilst the marketplace was flooded initially.

Change is inevitable, adapt, use it or lose it.

What you are selling and your current volume will make a big difference. I you are starting out very small, then ebay does have a lot of handholding, and more importantly, a lot of visitors that use ebay search, which will then display your product.

I'm doing well on ebid but I sell on both ebid and ebay so I say support both, competition is great for our business.

Also the mag reviews, newspaper and billboard adverting etc is starting a ebid buzz and is helping bring in buyers.

We use eBay but since the lastest changes our sales have been negatively affected. We sell quite a broad range of items and never a large quantity of the same item. Therefore the way eBay now works is skewed against us.

I have considered looking at the likes of tazbar and ebid but like others have mentioned, there is a severe lack of users on such sites.

It's either eBay or nothing, really.

I gave up using ebay some time back apart from the odd time when I'm clearing out one offs of old stock which I normally offer at 99p reserve.The customer base at ebay has now shrunk so much that where I used to often get above retail price bids on such items,I struggle to get a decent price at all and with ebays extorniate fees and the daylight robbery of painpal it is now no longer a worthwhile option.
At one time ebay sent feeds to google,I don't know if this still happens but auction items do not seem to show on google base so the prospect of a bit of extra advertising seems to have vanished.
I use ebid and have a steady number of sales.I get exposure on Google and the fees are far more realistic.Ebid seem to mainly concentrate on the UK market but I have had sales from the US and Europe,not the same quantity as ebay tis true,but with a far more acceptable amount being taken in terms of fees.
There is also the feeling that ebids numbers of buyers and sellers are rising wheres those of ebay are like its reputation for customer satisfaction,falling.

Simple answer, I sell on Ebid, and I get the same, or slightly lower as the fee structure means I can pass on savings, as I get on Rip off feebay, Ebid is the future and given time and a chance will become what I miss, The Ebay of 10/15 years ago

eBid has been going ten years and I'm still hearing the same punch line.

The eBay of 10+ years ago is history. The world of buying online has changed dramatically in that time, those crazy days of just shoving stuff up on the net and it selling for silly money quickly aren't going to come back.

Seems we have a new eBid fan on a posting mission this morning, just thought I'd balance things up a bit.

If there are less users then ebid have a lot of work to do. What is the point of selling products (stay listed for months with no sales) or users searching for products that are more likely to not be available on the site. Whatever marketing formula ebay has beside their years in business and funding ebid needs to source out.

I sell on both sites and can probably do 2000 sales on eBay to 1 on Ebid.

Sales in 12 month since joining Ebid have nearly covered the cost of joining, but I do not consider it a successful trial in joining.

Need to pay my fees of 6p soon...fees since March shows how slow sales are!

eBid has no customers compared to eBay.

85% of £10K made from eBay say is a lot more than the 98% of a few hundred pound turnover in the same period from eBid.

eBay has only raised its fees because they know they can.

Seems VERY cheap compared to Greedbay. I have given up selling on Greedbay now I lose 15% in fees! So I am thinking of setting up here instead, seems like ebay used to be? I searched the net and it comes up as the worlds no2 auction site. I dont like Amazon, I prefer auction format selling. Its also UK based and does'nt force PickpocketPAL on sellers! Thats got to be good!

I did a search for "rating for eBid.com" and saw some positive comments and places where you can read individual comments from people who have used it. You need to look at their entire site, read privacy statement, and what their guarantee is for items not received or not as described.
