DPA & outsourced call centers

I was just thinking about something and wondered if anyone here knew.

There is a lot of outsourcing to Indian call centers. So how does the data protection act fit in to this?
If you were outsourcing to India and a customer calls up to purchase your product, they will take credit card / bank details etc on your behalf.

What are the legal standpoints on this?

And before you say it, I know, I know. Nobody likes Indian call centers.
