SEO Training - Recommendations Please

Hi Guys

I am looking for a bit of SEO basic training in the Reading area.

All I am after at the moment is an insight into the basics to enable us to maintain our own site. I appreciate that a short course will not make me an SEO Guru, that is not the intention, I am looking for an introduction to the subject.

I have contacted a company called SEO Junkies who offer a 1 day course at £495. Does anyone know this company? Is this about the right price for a 1 day course?

Any opinions or recommendations would be appreciated.

I may be able to help although I'm not in the Reading area. I've been doing seo for a number of years and have been offering a 2 day training course for the last 4 years as requests for training started to become very popular. The training course is done over Skype and is a 1-1 course covering all the basics plus a lot more.

Basic steps to SEO can be found on this forum.
I think someone even posted a step by step guide. SEO is about saving cash in the long run. I thnk you would save money by just spending a few days on the forum asking questions and getting answers from professional consultants that do this for a living.
We offer SEO training but as part of a package. We show you what is require from your wesite to be more efficient and show you the changes made and reason why.

You could pay £495 for a one day course where they will tell you precisely what you would learn if you dedicated a full day researching it online. There is a wealth of free information about SEO on the web, much of it very good. Whether you do a one day course or spend a day gathering resources online the result will be the same. You will then have to put all the concepts into practise and start optimising. Personally, I don't think you will gain a great deal more from a paid course.

you can read some SEO basic tips on sitepoint. you can also download some videos for seo on V7N...
there a lot of material you could find on the internet, and most of them are articles that professional SEO have written...

I recently came across a chap who's done wonders for us - on a 750 / month consultancy basis - I'm sure he'd take a day or so to review your site + provide one on one training for the cost you mention. His name is adam mills e mail via his email in house with my own company - although he is 100% independant of us. [email protected]

It seems like there is loads of useful information on the web, on this site and through the members.

This seems like a great place to get me started. Should keep me out of trouble for a few days.

There is a very good SEO expert I have met his name is david viney and he has a book called get to the top of google look him and the book up!

Sorry for the delay in replying, I have been away for a few days (not glad to back in the rain!!)

I am only looking at getting training for myself and one other member of staff, but with all the useful posts here I will start off by digging through all of the information supplied and then, once I know a little more about what I still need to know, may well look again for training.
