Can someone elaborate if this is a legal policy to have on products via eCommerce. Obviously there are exceptions - goods not as described, faulty etc
 
I would say absolutely no, unless the items are produced to order for the customer to their specifications.

You need to check the distance selling act. Buying by post, phone or online you are actually more entitled to returns than in a shop where you have had a reasonable chance to examine goods before purchase.

Silly Jokes is spot on, the exceptions are fairly minimal, predominantly where items are bespoke or specifically made to order.
