What laws govern businesses such as the lottery publishing expected Jackpots?

What do they have to show to prove that they're not just plucking this figure off the top of the head?

How does this stop people working out the national lotteries profit margins on sales or is this information readily available?

Just curious!

:)

I've had a look on their website can't find any info...

I can only assume they make these claims on statistics their record from previous participation rates???

Back when the lottery started they stated what proportion went where, and how the prize structure worked. Their estimated jackpot would just be based on estimated sales following the prize structure.

The National Lottery Act 2006 ??

Just a guess, think that is more about dividing money for good causes, big lottery fund etc.
