Inspiring stories of achievement, specialist advice and a comprehensive range of business services will make the Growing Your Own Business Exhibition & Conference taking place on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 October 2008 at NEC, Birmingham the place where entrepreneurs can take the next step in expanding their businesses to new heights.

Sponsored by Barclays Bank, the event presents the perfect opportunity for anybody in business or those wanting to set up an enterprise, to find out how to take the crucial leap forward through the guidance of inspiring expert advice.

Visitors to the event will benefit from a free conference where they can gain valuable insights from successful business experts who will share the secrets behind their achievements. The seminar programme of outstanding speakers will provide solutions to the key issues that entrepreneurs face as they build their businesses.

The opening keynote address 'Successful entrepreneur, successful business!' will be presented by successful e-commerce entrepreneur, Hugo Burge, head of international and vice chairman of Cheapflights.co.uk, the leading travel price comparison website.

With an entrepreneurial background in property investment and consultancy, Burge joined Cheapflights.co.uk in March 2000. By May of 2003 he had set up the company's Boston office and launched the USA website www.cheapflights.com. In 2008 Burge won the British Travel Industry Hall of Fame Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Hugo is also founder of HOWZAT media, hereorthere.com and director of zoomf.com. In his presentation, Burge will discuss the traits, attitudes and abilities that make a successful business leader, top tips to maintain motivation and drive for success and where to find support for growing businesses and entrepreneurs.

Other speakers include William Montgomery, CEO of TEN, a performance improvement company, who will present a seminar entitled: 'Leadership: Taking charge of business', while Nigel Temple, founder of SME marketing services company The Marketing Compass, will present a session called: 'How to get customers to come to you'.

Networking extraordinaire Mike Segall of The Business Resources Group, will present a seminar entitled: 'Networking: Connecting business People' while Geoff Ramm, marketing expert and raconteur, will discuss exceptional customer service that retains customers. Neil Stickells, head of SEO at digital marketing agency Steak, will discuss successful search engine optimisation and how businesses can improve their natural search listings.

The conference will also feature Richard White, business development director for business development consultancy Pro Excellence, who will present a seminar titled: 'Taking charge of your sales pipeline' and Benjamin Fountain, managing director of Theselect.co.uk, who will explain how to develop an online business with minimal risk.

Other speakers include Chantal Cooke, director of digital radio station PassionForThePlanet.com, on the benefits of PR and Robert Snaith, director of Central Enterprise Solution, speaking about efficient cash flow management.

Business Skills Zone and Advisory Table

A series of workshops, masterclasses, advisory tables and networking sessions will be taking place in the Growing Your Own Business Skills Zone, designed to offer a wealth of information for entrepreneurs. Visitors will be able to listen to insightful speakers such as Simon Towndrow, operations director of Minute Steak, who will be discussing how a well managed pay-per-click campaign can made a difference to any business's bottom line.

Visitors be able to seek guidance on any issues they are currently facing at the Advisory Table. They will also have the opportunity to consult a panel of business owners and qualified experts to see how they can collectively advise them through the issue and assist in finding the way forward.

I have had several queries from members trying to access tickets to this event.

To confirm, the last Growing Your Own Business event was in London on 20-21 March. The next one takes place in Birmingham on 2-3 October and we will be releasing details of how to get free tickets nearer the time. In the meantime, visit the exhibition website for general details about the events.
