Bankrupcy. British living overseas

I have a friend who lives in New Zealand. She has debts in the uk to a finance house and would like to file for bankrupcy. Apparently, she needs to attend in person. She cannot afford a return flight to the UK to do this. Is there anything else she can do, other than turn up in person? Alternatively can she get any help with the flight payment from the govt?

I realise this is a business forum and her debts are personal, but I don't know where else to ask. I understand that many of you will take a moral standpoint on this, but I would be grateful if you could keep comments to yourself, if you have no practical advice to offer.

She is not the sort of person to deliberately let anyone down. She sees bankrupcy as an awful personal failure. Her financial situation is hopeless though, despite being in full-time employment. New Zealand wages are not great and she has to act decisively and with speed.

Any helpful advice greatly appreciated.

I think she has to be here in person to put forward her case but even so she may be refused it.
