The Fast Checkout Question

    Folks,

    We sell some pretty high-value items on our website and offer our customers an "instant" checkout method as well as account registration options.

    Had some conflicting advice about whether the fast checkout option is appropriate for customers spending the likes of £300-£1000 on stuff, and they MUST have an account they can go into and review orders etc.

    On the other hand, some with experience have said to forget the account option altogether, and just go with the instant checkout.

    Any experience, thoughts etc?

    Hi Diggerboy,

    Yes easy answer to this, you will always need customers details to pay even if it's at the instant checkout, so what you do is have a system in place that creates the account at the point of sale. Once they have paid they then get the user name and login automatically emailed to them where they can return to view their product.

    What we do is this:
    the customer chooses the product, we ask for the usual details then they pay, after they have paid the the payment is confirmed they are auto sent to they customer area where they can view their product, all of this is done is a matter of seconds.
    In the customers email box will be the booking confirmation + an email with their login details. JOB DONE

    The customer didn't even know an account was opened or that they had registered.

    Hi Diggerboy,
    If your customers are spending a lot of money I think they need to know what is happening with their order. I think an account login area makes your site appear more professional.

    I have just looked at you site, when you go to the checkout there is a security warning. This is because you have elements in the checkout (an image or include file) that is coming from a none SSL source. That will definitely put people off if you don't get it fixed.

    Just do what we are doing for the next release of OMC.

    Checkout screen captures invoice/delivery addresses and email and displays the payment method choices. There is also a box for account holders to enter their password so they can login and pay on their account if applicable.

    For those who have not purchased before an account is created automatically, for others the order is associated with the email address used.
