We work in Mac and PC, but don't use offline systems at all as they are not the correct solution for any clients requiring web presence.

Most of our work is transferring from offline to online solutions. This means the whole system is browser based allows any user from anywhere with the correct login details.

There are no advantages at all of offline systems, as you have issues with
  • Using any other computers to administrate is impossible
  • If you want to work at home and your work place you cant
  • Its not possible to hack core parts of the site to make it work differently, as the code is created by the system every time it uploads a new copy.
  • Offline systems are free (well most at least)
  • If you want to integrate anything like a forum, blog or gallery its impossible. But systems like Joomla/virtuemart and Drupal have these things built in.
I cant think of any positives at all for using an offline system over Joomla/Virtuemart.

I hope this helps

There's an app called 'checkout', I'm not sure if that's what you mean as it's more geared towards running an actual store... :) Can just a web based solution that has a database back-end not do in your case?

Hi,

More research done on this topic now and have found this for you,

http://www.xsilva.com/ The product is called LightSpeed. i am not sure if this is what you are after but might be worth a look.

Question to the OP: What is it actually that you want the system to do? Sounds like all you need is a decent database backend and a website...
