Sync Google Calendar and MS Outlook

I use Outlook as my main calendar and Google as a calendar I can get to when out and about but as ever the problem is keeping the two syncronized. I've tried Sync My Cal and Google's new sync tool but both just mess everything up - seemingly randomly deleting appointments, not updating others, etc.

Does anyone use any other tools to syncronise between web-based and outlook-based calendars?

Have you tried using SyncMyCal with outlook having precedence?

I use SyncMyCal to download from Google to Outlook, then i use my phone software to syncronize my phone with outlook, pretty neat...

Yep, but it still randomly deleted stuff - sometimes on the Google calendar, sometimes on Outlook, and sometimes on both. This afternoon was the final straw - it deleted 90% of my appointments between April and July on both calendars - thankfully my phone still had a copy as well.
