What is the banned one you speak of? I saw the rumpus thread and I'm curious. Its ok because Dave @ Mytchmac promotes the sales and markting forum in his sig too. whether its 1 or 5 shouldnt matter. Nothing in the rules says you cannot mention other forum url's either.
ps as long as its not the banned one![]()
Would it be appropriate to add a link to a list of business forums in my sig?
Would the mods, administrators have any objections to this?
A while ago a group of people joined this forum and were just PMing people with the link to 4notworking. So the easiest thing to do was add it to the swear filter so the link didn't get through.
As you can see from other posts, there's no problem at all with linking to other forums. But blatantly posting/PMing/Joining just to promote another forum is obviously not cricket.
It terms of offerings Michael as you are now fully aware that network has a completely different business model to this one and therefore cannot even be considered as a competitor.
Was that aimed at me? either way, i agree - i've even put my own point across in the thread mentioned by Martin.
hmm I don't see my forum on there.I updated the list and added the further info after people mentioned it, and will include it in my sig for the next week so anyone interested can see it.
They are aimed at very different requirements.....some people like social networking others don't![]()
Nothing in it for me at all, I have had the list there for over 18 months.
In a thread earlier this week someone asked about other forums so I posted
a link to my list, others then said it would be better if it provided more info;
member numbers, post numbers, threads etc.
I updated the list and added the further info after people mentioned it,
and will include it in my sig for the next week so anyone interested can
see it.
But the comment was aimed at someone who asked so this comment coming from you isn't at all neccessary is it Ray(although I've absolutely no interest in the "history" as it does not concern me).
Take a poll among the memebers here to and ask if they wish to attend regular network events (eg BRE, BNI or 4 N) and you will find a majority that say they are not interested........one of the reasons that they are on these forums anyway(Or at least they did last time the question was asked).Interesting comment about social networking, not sure I understood what you mean insomuch as to some level all online communities are social and networking to varying degrees?
so this comment coming from you isn't at all neccessary is it Ray![]()
As a subject that fascinates me, has there been such a survey? I'd love to have a look at what people wantTake a poll among the memebers here to and ask if they wish to attend regular network events (eg BRE, BNI or 4 N) and you will find a majority that say they are not interested........one of the reasons that they are on these forums anyway(Or at least they did last time the question was asked).
Hence my interest in any surveys, or is this a personal opinion? It will be fascinating to see how this forum develops based on market research and policy implementation by Sift. I know Darren is working really hard on this area and I look forward to whatever is rolled out accordingly.Yes there is a degree of social interaction but not the primary reason most people are on here.![]()
It was entirely necessary, as the history had already been laid out (which had nothing to do with the thread ahem)
It's a bit too niche and too small to go on the main list, but I will create a
list of niche forums too, not with quite so much info though.
What would best describe it?
legal forum, Investigators forum, PI forum or something else?
Ah but the thread was taken off topic long before someone asked the specific question and therefore got a specific answer. (And the OP hasn't asked for the thread to be returned to the OT have they?)![]()
But the comment was aimed at someone who asked so this comment coming from you isn't at all neccessary is it Ray
You forgot the other reason which I posted about on another thread.
The fact that certain members of that forum (in full agreement with the forum leader) took it upon themselves to launch a full scale tirade of this forum because of one member who had asked to be banned from here.
That one member has been back on this forum in a number of guises since and once threatened two of the moderators.
Those members of that network had never been on here before but joined solely for the purpose of causing trouble.
The Pm ing of members took place just after that incident.
So now you have the history (but the full history would take far too long).
It terms of offerings Michael as you are now fully aware that network has a completely different business model to this one and therefore cannot even be considered as a competitor.

Taking off topic......................noWhich suggests I was taking it off topic or making irrelevant comments, especially after your post, which had nothing to do with the OP:
Come on children, stop the bickering now or I'll take your teddies away.
No, these are important issues that need airing![]()
Taking off topic......................no
Irrelevant..................definitely even in the context of your own post. Therefore the only reason to state it is to make a subtle attack on what I had said........ i.e. what I had stated was irrelevant even though it directly answered a question.
