As it's a common general query - Not having any practical experience of them (apart from being a customer) I'm not able to write it but reading other threads it might be a good idea to have a concise "sticky" thread in the e commerce forum that lists the main online payment options available with their respective costs, what volume they are best suited to, maybe advantages/disadvantages . Of course they can and will be discussed in other threads.
eg Paypal seems the easiest option (if not necessarily the best) for integrating into web startups and lower volumes perhaps but putting this sort of info eg charges and requirements into one thread might help.
Anyway just a suggestion.
