contractor without a contract

I have been working as a contractor for a company for the past 7 or 8 years which has gone into administration. I have regularly submitted invoices to the company but I have never signed a contract. I am now owed a lot of money because the last few invoices were not paid.

I have been told that I am now just one of many creditors. Is this true or do I have another means of recovering my losses?

It possibly is true, what was the nature of the work you have done?

If you can show implied employment (as per Dacas v Brook Street or Muscat v Cable & Wireless) then potentially you can claim as an employee (from the administrators) which would put you in about second place in the queue rather than last.
