Hi,

I work PT as a motor trade, I only sell around 3 cars a month.
I am now getting customers wanting to pay via debit card/credit card but I do not have facilities to do so.

Does anyone have any ideas or whats the quickest and cheapest way to do this, I have heard PAYPAL has a virtual terminal>

Even though you've a small number of transactions, it may still be worth you talking to your bank and get some prices for having a terminal and facility for card payment.

We've been using Paypal with their Virtual Terminal to get off the ground and although it's easy to get started, it costs a huge amount in per-transaction fees.

Shop around a bit - most banks have various packages to suit.

Also, suggest having a look at:

And keep in mind your various responsibilities when accepting card payment with the holder present/not present.

Yes Protx does offer a virtual terminal I use it myself is very good but takes abit of work to setup

i use protx for my payments, and they have a online terminal as part of the service.

We can sort you out with a virtual terminal and a merchant account. We have a merchant services buy group in place with a couple of the UK acquiring banks so the rates you would get would be discounted. We also have dedicated staff within the bank to smooth the procedure.

As i remember you can accept paypal transfers via SMS... the amount is then added to the owners bill or deducted from their credit, although with cars most peoples credit wouldn't normally cover it.

I recently sold a couple of cars and found Paypals basic services perfectly suitable. As I was using eBay as a channel it made good sense to go this way.

If I was doing this on a regular basis I might move to Protx as, in the mid teir, they offer a good service that is will priced.

However, that said if business really takes off you might want to think about moving back to Paypal as their pricing becomes very attractive at high volumes.
