Very interesting, Sean Brietsche was also the director of Velocity Merchant Services that left customers out of pocket and without payment processing in 2006 when they ceased trading due to fraud by their merchants.

Hi Carl, I remember you from Velocity.
The court case for all of that starts the end of the month. The total fraud was for 5 million with 1.4 aprox on cards. Across the two companies that perpetrated the fraud there were 5 people arrested and 7 + million in assets seized. A couple have pleaded guilty already and the rest are expected to cave in the coming weeks.
I am a witness in the case and helped in supplying evidence that led to these peoples arrests. I am quite looking forward in doing my civil bit as these people caused a lot of people a lot of pain. Some of the stories of people losing their holidays is heart wrenching, let alone the business people who suffered.
The people behind this had been know to police for about a decade but they could never catch them. They as a crime group nearly single handedly took out ATOL and ATBA over the years. They are also the reason why travel processing is deemed as extremely high risk. Good news is police have seized more assets and funds under the benefiting from proceeds crime act and everyone is looking to get their money back, or at least a significant portion.
If anyone has any questions on what happened I would be more than happy to answer what I legally can.

That's a handful to go at. different PSPs suit different needs, so you need to examine pricing carefully. As a for instance Protx charge on a flat fee basis, which is pretty unique. Paypal Pro suits large retailers, but might not be the right solution for smaller players.
In all cases (except Paypal standard) you will need to speak with a merchant services company about setting up your merchant account. This can be the real pain behind accepting payments and should be approached first.

Ive just spent the last few months looking at the major IMA's as we need to move away from Paypal as we have had far too many problems
we are now going for Streamline with Protx as its slightly cheaper than Streamline & Worldpay
If you area member of the FSB the £200 +vat setup cost is free
Ive looked at quite a few others some a little cheaper but quite a few want to hold you money for 4 weeks before giving it to you which is a little scary if they go bust, a risk we are not willing to take.
also it is about checking your IMA will be able to work with your e commerce site software ok
