Hi all

I have checked the actual domain name I want and it's free but who do I go through to actually purchase it? and is it that simple or do I have to set it up in anyway when I register?

Plus one site it stated it cost £2.79 then in the next column 2 years? does this mean I only get it for 2 years or will I need to pay again in 2 years? would I loose it say after 2 years?

Sorry for all the questions just though I'd ask before I go ahead so I'm prepared for anything I come up against.

Thanks

You can purchase the domain name and not set anything up until you want to. It will be yours for two years and then in 2 years time you will need to pay a fee again to keep hold of it.

Im sure whoever you purchase the domain with will send you a renewal message when the 2 years are almost up.

If I was you i'd purchase the domain name so noone else pinches it first!

Hope this helps.

Hi
As said above. The fee you pay is for use of the domain for the time period. Registras like 123reg will give you a 90 day - 60 day etc notice when the domain name needs renewing. Most will let you sign up for an automatic renewal and even if not most will renew the domain any way as a safety catch.

Might also be worth looking at hosting packages that throw in the doamin name for free, particularly if you're going to want hosting later.

Although that being said if you then want to move host (for whatever reason) it can be problomatic - best to buy the domains with a registar, and the hosting seperately. Getting domains released from a host can prove and length process!
