I need a postal address

Chris Kaday

I am just off the top page of Gooogle for a number of business mentor phrases and I now need to give it another push. Part of that will be to list myself in directories but I have a slight snag. I do not have retail or business premises and I do not want to draw attention to where I live. I am sure there must be very easy ways of obtaining a postal address and presumably having your mail forwarded which you clever people in here know about,. What do you suggest?

Many thanks

Mine is with Royal Mail and costs approximately £56 per year (I think). Unfortunately, my business never got off the ground and so it's rarely been used but I did receive a good book via my P.O. Box 'Grow Your Own Carrot' and that alone has made it worthwhile!

Another option is to use a business centre as a virtual address. Mail can then be forwarded to you by the centre. More expensive than a PO Box, but you have the advantage of a physical address that is not your home address.

Looked this up and it says they will reveal your address on request which seems to defeat the object. yes take the point of not delivering to a PO and looks a bit fishy too I think.

So anyone in here use a good business address service? Probably needs to be in London as I need business in London.

Simon's your best bet, I'd say - especially as you could also talk to him about his meeting and training rooms at the same time. Failing that, what about asking your accountant about using his/hers? If you're Ltd you should be using your registered address anyway, surely?

PS: dare I ask why you don't want to draw attention to where you live?!

Thank you for reminding me Chris. I do appreciate that you want to find out where someone lives it is relatively easy if you have a mind to and with a little effort but that is not the same as publicising your address in every directory in the UK.

Chris You are a executive director of a few companies therefore as you know your home address is widely available to anyone who want to look you up at companies house or even 192.com

Chris,

I saw someone here also recommended Mailboxes Etc. I use the Croydon one for one of my companies and am very pleased with them.

You basically choose whether you call your mailbox Office/Suite/Unit/Number 8, Maddison House, Croydon etc. It is a real physical address and you can even have parcels delivered there.

The beauty to me is that I don't have to pay for the redirecting of post. I just pop down every few days and pick up the post. Saves a fair bit over the course of a year and should be as cheap as the London addresses.

Thanks for this Mike

I don't want to appear negative as it is not like me, but my accountant charges several hundred an hour and I dread to think what he would charge for being a mail box. As far as friendly neighbours are concerned I live in a London tower block apartment so say no more. Oh dear what times we live in eh?

When I needed a mailing address other than my home address my accountant had me use her address and she forwarded any mail to me, and she didn't charge me anything for it. Maybe a friendly neighbour could help you out in the same way?

Thanks Gavin

Yes looks ideal and great prices

I sent them an email a few days ago with a question and of course did not get a reply - not untypical.

Chris Kaday

That's odd - I had found them to be quick in replying whenever I had any problems (once my invoice was wrong - they very quickly adjusted it) and when I moved house they were quick to update my details.

You are a customer Gavin and I am a prospect. Makes all the difference. How often have you emailed a company on the web and got no reply? Happens all the time. Would be signed up now if they had answered my query. Amazing!
