Internet Merchants Fight Back Against Fraud

That's a good article with some interesting stats. I agree trust is a major issue when selling online.

To be honest unless I know the Brand ie Currys for instance i very rarely buy online. If i don't know the supplier and want the goods, i often phone them prior to purchase.

I think the offline approach is a good idea, maybe it will work for high value purchases.

I think when trust and security is established then payment online is not a problem for most.

I generally advise my e-commerce clients to setup customer testimonial pages or feed back sections as this alone can help with the trust factor.

Thanks for the comments. Anything that empowers a bigger customer base to place orders through our merchant's shops is a positive. You could be right in that it will be more effective for higher value items but there is no harm in offering consumers the choice.

I agree completely, Testimonials and FAQ pages both help to build confidence in a shop.

And what % of the transaction are they going to take I wonder.........?

Whether that works will depend on who pays who and how much.

    Bit off topic there!

I've sold to italian customers on a couple of occasions and never experienced any problems, I only ever send goods by International Signed For though so that the goods are insured and proof of delivery is obtained.
