Got a fairly basic questions re accepting online payments, hope you can help...

We'll not be running an online shop, rather our online payments will involved people paying their fees for being part of our network (much in the same way that eBay sellers pay fees each month). I'm looking at WorldPay's FuturePay for this service and Lynne from Streamline has been dead helpful...

Would we still need a checkout system on our site or is there another option for taking/processing the payments? It is only one payment option plan so it's nice and simple.

I'm a novice to the payments side of things!

WorldPay is a 3rd party payment processor - they take and process the payment, you don't need to handle that on your side.

I haven't used WorldPay before (but have worked with 2Checkout and PayPal). It should be as simple as creating the product (membership) using their software and then linking to the payment processing page on their site from your site.

Aha...so no need for fiddly checkout systems, carts, encryption on my site then?

Hi if your running ecommerce just go to Modules-highlight paypal, click install and then check the following:
enable paypal,
put in your paypal account email
payment zone = non

And your up and running
that simple.

But that doesn't offer the same features as WorldPay's FuturePay, ie recurring variable payments.

I have implemented the exact system you are referring to, including with variable monthly amounts, although it can get quite complicated if you want to use callbacks for account activation and management the actual intial agreement submit (where the customer agrees to join and gets to enter their card details) is very simple and can usually be done using a single html form. Let me know if you require help.

So you've used FuturePay? Is it a good system? If I use it what else do I need to have integrated into my website? It's worth noting...

I only have one 'product' - basically people pay variable fees to be part of my network (can't go into too much detail). Best way to think of it is the same way you pay your eBay fees each month if you're a seller.

It worked fine for me, have you got a worldpay account up and running, if so and if you only have one product you could just have a simple form on your site that does all the work, would be a quick job, can you pm me on here I am not sure I just signed up, bit annoyed I couldnt submit any links to be honest.
