I realize this is a very vague question, but how much revenue can one make through Google Adsense? By that I mean how much is one click typically worth? What kind of range is their in the prices they pay?

Anybody with Adsense experience on these boards? Surely there must be!
 
Adsence can generate between 5 cents and many dollars per click depending on the ads and the popularity of the subject. Some people make alot of money off adsence. I have been studying adsence for about 2 months now and I am nearly ready to get going on my adsence projects.

From my studies so far I have learned to have many many sites with adsence ads on them each generating you a small income each. when you have enough sites up on different niches you will start to generate a decent income from it.

Thanks for that info Mitch. When placing the ads on your site, do you have any way of knowing how much a particular link will pay out?

I put adsence on my site a earlier this month. I get between 500 and 1,500 hits on my site a day, and so far this month have made $14.45 in adsence. I don't know if that is of any use to you!!! If you look you will see that the ads are more descretely at the side, I could do a lot more to make them prominent, but don't want that look to my site. www.timeforcrafting.co.uk

To give you an idea, there is a fedex club: that is if you earn more than about £10000 per month, they send the cheque fedex!!!

One thing to consider is to produce a horizontal link unit. just below the header graphic. These look far more like a site content menu than ad content, and my experience is you get better click thru.

Suggestion though is you mix a combination of adsense, amazon and things such as auction ads, to give a variety on your site.

Income per click can vary widely as people have said.

My top 2 earning adsense sites produce:

Gambling site: 32c per click.

Travel: 16c per click.

And my click rates are anything up to 38.3%.

Thanks for all your replies, they are all very useful.

Let me explain my situation... I am launching a unique and innovative political website in around 5 weeks time. I have a press release lined up for when we go live, I have high expectations and believe the site can do very well.

However, I am undecided the best way to go about earning revenue. My application for two affiliate schemes (Kelkoo and Pricerunner) have been denied since neither of them want to endorse any content on the site (since it is political).

Google Adsense appears to be worth very little and if used incorrectly can make a site look cheap. I have thought about charging people to place skyscrapers on my site (cut out the agencies). I could say that I offer advertising space in my press release. I would charge people a fixed amount each week. However, after reading the other thread about banners I am now dubious about going down that avenue.

Whats a guy to do?

It could be something that's difficult to monetise.

I seem to remember Ozzy posting that, despite all the traffic this forum receives, he made next to nothing from the adsense that was on this site.

My own experience with different sites is that, unless there's something obvious for the visitors to think about buying, they don't click on the adsense ads.

So, for my travel site, adsense serves up hotel and flight information that people might want to check out. So, there's a solid click rate.

On the first adsense site I created (a blog), I got a lot of traffic via a press release, but only approx 0.1% people clicked on the adsense because there was no connection between my content and people buying stuff.

(i.e. the audience I brought to the site wasn't a good match for any product)

It doesn't cost anything to have AdSense on your pages.
The content of your pages effects the types of ad that appear (in theory)
You can block competitors from appearing in your site.

My lowest per click has been 1 cent
highest per click $3.29 (that I no about, might have had higher)
The new referrer 2.00 ads pay a lot more, but only on completion of action.
For a political site you could try the Reuters AFF program (can't remember
where it is now)
To track click values you set up different channels

It's free to setup a Google adsense account.

There is a competitor ad filter so you can choose not to display adverts from companies of your choice.

The amount you earn depends on the cost per click (CPC) that advertiser is paying, the click through rate (CTR) of the ads you show and the volume of clicks.

The CPC varies from a few cents to several dollars depending upon the category of the ads that show. Google automatically places what is perceives as relevant ads onto your site. It does this by crawling you site to find out what subject matter it relates to. For example if you just sell washing machines then it should show ads from companies selling washing machines.

The CTR is calculated by the number of clicks you generate divided by the number of ad impressions. Typically CTR's vary from 0.1% (very poor) to 20% (very good). Anything over 5% would be regarded as a decent CTR. The CTR is dependent on things such as where you place the ad on your web page. If you hide it away at the bottom then it won't get as many clicks as if it is at the top of the page. Google also allows you to choose the colour of the text in the ad and the border colour/background colour which can have an affect on CTRs.

The volume of clicks is dependent upon your CTR and also the amount of visitors your website receives.

The actually monthly gross amount of money that different adsense publishers earn can vary from just a few cents to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Adsense is a good tool, I use it myself on 'hobby' sites and make about $10 per day. I much prefer to affiliation because this way you are paid for each click - not every click that generates in to a sale (which I personally feel is the obligation of the company I pass my visitor on to - otherwise they simply get free branding on my pages).

Cost per click varies so widely it's untrue. I think largest amount I was paid was around $3 per click (insurance related). I have heard one of the largest clicks was around $79 per click (particuarly type of lawyor - but that's all been put to an end now).

You need visitors with lots of clicks to start making much though (unless again your website is financial).

This more or less ties in with my own experience. I think most people should exceed $1 per day with 1000 visits. Of course it depends on the click value. Some of my clicks are worth more than $1 each (but unfortunately I dont get enough of them) :(

A few years ago when Adsense wasn't so commonly used I used to spend a lot of $s on advertising, but then it became SO popular that the cost-per-click kept escalating such that it no longer makes sense for me to spend $s on google adsense.

My matrix stats tell me that people are looking at my site from this thread - I hope you are all looking at the quality adverts at the side too!!!!! ;)

With an e-commerce site my advice would be forget adsense, it will cheapen your site by a larger amount than the income it will generate by quite a margin!

adverts cost nothing
the key words on your website, will link to adverts
so if you if you website is about fishing you will get fishing adverts

in the subday telegraph a while ago , so of the big companys spent a lot on google adverts
easy jet was on £22,000 a day
there must be some mega cash in the right place

i ,ve added adsense to my adverts and it now covers the google adsense cost

which is great

i could show you the website and how its done, but i am not allow to put weblinks up

can anybody explain why?

when some of these link have websites on them

Cant comment on that guy in particular, dont know him, but in general I cant say I have ever heard of any get rich quick scheme that offers high rewards with little work to be of much use.
Logically though, I find it hard to swallow that what he says is accurate,
Its pretty unheard of for adsense to pay out the sums of money he is talking about for low traffic sites, to get good results with adsense, you tend to need to do a *lot* of hard work.

Either hard work setting up excellent quality sites, and seo'ing hard, relying on quality over quantity or hard work setting up a network of spammy sites ,relying on quantity rather than quality.

I know if I had a method that could get nearly 20 thousand dollars a month out of google for 10 normal sites, I would not be wasting my time making video's and selling the secret to everyone, I would be setting up more and more sets of 10 sites to get more multiples of that 20 thousand dollars a month. After all, if its as easy as he reckons, he should be a billionaire by now...

Well that's one way of looking at it.

He runs a high traffic site - www.seniority.co.uk. Running this has shown him what works and what doesn't with AdSense.

So, you have the formula and it's making you $20k a month or $240k a year. Package that up and sell the info and you are making a hell of a lot more. This approach is a lot more lucrative than spending years building more high traffic sites that may or may not drive AdSense money in.

Just my take on what he's doing ;)

google ads is a useful way to promote business for my thinking,

it is better that the use in b2b website

one of my friends made money from the ads promotion,but it is not google,it is one Chinese search engine called Baidu

Hope you get gains from ads on search engine.
