we could roll in one container every 8 weeks, so a guesstimate price on a container from china to northern ireland would be very useful. We bring in all sorts of quantities at the minute so i'm happy for a third party to deal with finding partially full containers to fill etc but I would like to fill our onw within a few months.

I also bring in products from all across the usa, its been suggested to me to have these collected in america and then shipped in a container all together once every few months so if anyone has suggestions on this or can name companies who do this it would be very interesting.

Hi Music Man
Will mail my supplier and get him to forward prices for 20ft, 40ft and 40ft HQ for you along with shippers contact details. Where is your supplier located in may make a difference? Doesn't your supplier provide you with similar?

Shipping from China is very competitive be it sea or air so generally you will get a similar price when shopping around. Having had a fair bit of experience in this area and used various agents in the process I would recommend Harbur Logistics www.harbur.co.uk speak to Tim Catling. Another good company who may be a good bet for your US shipments or both is Woodland International Transport http://www.woodlandinternational.com/ The factory in China may well have an agent they use but only problem being you will not necessarily know which agent will be used in the UK when the goods arrive and need clearing. Details will be on the B/L or you can in fact nominate the UK agent you want to use. Point being it is often easier to use a UK agent end to end. We use both Chinese and UK. I have shipped China to Belfast before but as shipping was not direct I seem to remember the shipment being offloaded in Europe and then on to another ship so shipping was longer...and slightly more expensive. 20ft at the moment c. $1300 to Felixstowe from Shanghai...different ports different price but that is a good ballpark figure to use. Good thing about a UK agent is they can give you delivered price which covers all port fees, clearance etc.
Consolidated shipping is possible but it logistics can be a problem..sometimes costs more.
One final note, do make sure the factory you use in China has an export history.
Hope this helps.

In my opinion, shipping is a kind of service, and its price should base on quality of it . The price gap among different forwarders is not large. You may consider one who is more responsible, and can carry your cargo efficiently and safely.
