Has anybody heard of a company called Vardis? We believe the are scammers, we have been contacted 3 times within the last 3 months from companies claiming to advertise for the Police Magazine.

They claim to work with The Foresters Fund For Children and would like us to advertise in a magazine that they will publish in our local area.

This company is based in Merseyside and we do not see the point in publishing a small magazine in our area as it is very small.

Can anyone help?

I dealt with Vardis when I advertised in the Foresters' Fund for Children Handbook a couple of years ago. They produced my ad and on the two ocassions I had to contact them they were quite hard to get hold of, but I didn't have any other problems with them.

We had a call last week from someone claiming that we had advertised with them last year and would we like to support them this year again. They had the name of the managing director and nothing else and it is definitely not something we would have knowingly done so they weren't sent off with a flee in their ear but they did sound quite convincing.

Yeah, they wanted me to advertise with them once too.

Foolishly, I went along with it for a while, then they sent me a proof of the ad (images they had obtained from my website, and Comic Sans font - aaaargh!) It was awful, so I phoned and cancelled. They were not happy, were abrupt and put the phone down on me.

They still invoiced me about three hundred pounds, I called them (mulitple times) and EVENTUALLY managed to get the invoice nullified.

I was highly surprised when they sent me a copy of the magazine, with an ad for CompuClean in it!

They then called me again the following year, when I stated in no uncertain terms that I was not advertising with them, they again took the huff and put the phone down.

In summary: STEER CLEAR!

I think these people may have contacted me with regards to a childrens charity publication.

I was a bit confused as they called on my Beauty Business phone and started saying after my support last year would i be interested in helping this year. :| my beauty business only opened about two weeks previously!!!!

That and they were calling from a mobile number. It confused me totally so I hanged up on them, but they keep calling back.

I remember OH having an ad for the fire service mag? would it be. The next year they ran one and charged him saying he had asked for it when he hadn't, they then started threatening him to pay it. All went quiet obviously when we ignored it, cant for the life of me remember what they called themselves though.

Yes, they are con men!! do not agree to anything over the phone or you are liable. I had to pay them £190 or i would have been black-listed.
Please just put the phone down as soon as you know who they are.

VARDIS dont trust them. they asked us if we would like to advertise in a book to help bullied children. they sent us the proof of the ad they designed but it was terrible so they were told we didnt want to advertise with them. they agreed and we thought no more about it until we recieved an invoice for £300 from them. we rang saying we werent paying because we had cancelled the advert but they still keep ringing saying we have no choice but to pay because it is for charity and they can be very abusive when on the phone
