I need some advice from insurance experts.

Do the nsurance comparison sites requires FSA approval? The sort we are looking at are the ones that source through others and bring results, then if the visitor purchases we get a commission.

I currently run a selection of other comparison sites and this is another we are looking at

Thks

Not an insurance expert, but everyone else seems to be asleep

confused .com IS registered with the FSA. From their website:
Who are Confused.com?
Confused.com is a trading name of Inspop.com. Inspop.com is registered in England and Wales (Reg No. 03857130), registered address: 2nd Floor The Friary, Greyfriars Road, Cardiff CF10 3AE. See our about us page for more information. Inspop.com is an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of EUI Limited. We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (Registration number: 310635). This can be confirmed at www.fsa.gov.uk/register/.

Don't know if this helps

I don't know, but I would imagine that it's the insurance companies themselves that need FSA approval rather than the comparison sites, you're only really a middle man.

You're not providing any financial services are you, you're providing a comparison of companies that do.

I might be wrong, but that seems the logical answer.

This is a point of debate at the moment....

There is an ongoing arguement over if people receiving commission without providing recommendation are required to have FSA authorisation. The key 2 examples being held up are the likes of Quidco where the customer is being paid the money and therefore is strongly being argued that they are promoting insurers (and therefore need to be authorised but currently arent) and the likes of websites like this which simply have an advertising banner and keep the commission themselves (our compliance department are more comfortable with this but have our legal team put unlimited indemnity clauses etc into our contract with affiliates to cover if they do add any text/ images etc other than the stock banner we provide to encourage people to follow the link)
