Best way to get Affiliate Links for a New online shop

Hi All,

I am doing some business development work for a client who is looking to get more visitors to his online shop. He is looking for blogs or websites to add a banner with a link included, so that they can track companies who follow the link and then purchase something from the shop, allowing them to be paid a commission on a monthly basis.

This is a good opportunity to make a lot of money from websites or blogs with high traffic but I'm finding it hard getting people interested. Most sites that I have spoken to want an up front advertising payment rather than the commission (which could be a lot more than the advertisement fee).

Does anyone have any recommendations of forward thinking high traffic sites who would want to refer people for a commission on the referred sales, by simply placing a banner add on their site, or do you have a busy site that you would like to put a banner on? Or a digital ad agency who could be used for this?

Regards

Mike, you're new this aren't you?

The best way to get affiliates is to identify the sites yourself and contact them direct.

However, their space is valuable to them and they will only be willing to partner with proven vendors who can turn their clicks into the sales that promise the commission.

As your client's site sounds like a new venture, I'd be with them in looking for money up front rather than commission as it is highly unlikely they will earn more commission that the upfront fee will be.

Have you tried contacting one of the many affiliate marketing agencies?

They offer Physical business products and services to mass market businesses of all sizes and they pay 20% commission (on sales ranging from £10 up to a hundreds of pounds).

They have been providing their services to businesses across the UK for over 17 yeas but the online shop is a new venture (but its a product that most businesses need).

We are trying to do the same thing and have signed up to an affiliate network but feel that the only affiliate sites around now are the voucher code sites. Blog owners etc only seem to be interested in the big well known brands or as mentioned above want large sums for banner ads which you aren't guaranteed to get clicks from.
