Basically i wondered if there was any tools or software out there that can let you know any domains that come up for grabs if the owner forgets to renew i own a certain .co.uk but not the .com and it comes up for renewal this year and the owner has not done anything with it so i am hoping they will forget about it

Thanks for any help

There are plenty of domain registrars who will let you place backorders, where they will attempt to grab the domain for you when it becomes available.

Is there an extra cost for doing this

I know some people use some certain software out there that will automatically tell them when a domain comes up for sale whether they have pacifically had it built for themselves or its an open thing i don't know

Hello,

We have found that if the domain is a quality domain (ie easy to spell/remember) then there are probably lots of registrars being employed to grab these as soon as they become available.

It is usually better to back order them using a registrar.
Reason: They will buy them literally as soon as they become available.
As they are a registrar, they don't have to go through the checkout process - as they bypass it.

We were watching one that expired at midnight on a certain date and kept on hitting refresh. As soon as it hit midnight, another registrar scooped it up immediately (within a split second) - we had no chance!

It really depends how much you want this domain.
We haven't used any registrars to do this in the past - so cannot vouch for any. When looking at terms, if the registrar fails to secure your domain then they normally credit your account which can be spent next time.
I haven't come across a registrar that will refund you the money.

It would be interesting if anyone that can recommend any registrars on this forum that will refund you the money if they fail.
