email hosting

There tends to be two main ways people host their emails when using a third party; using the email capability included with their web hosting or paying a bit more per mailbox for extra capabilities such as Exchange or Google Apps.

Most web hosting will include email hosting, are you looking at having a website as well?

Do you know if you are just looking for basic email hosting, or are you looking for Calendar, contacts etc?

As for the 123reg hosting, if I remember rightly the 99p per month is for one 1GB personal mailbox, which is effectively one email address. Although you can have multiple aliases.

Yes I'll have a website too with EKMPowershop but don't think they offer any email hosting.

I don't need a calendar or address book functions.
I would need to access my mail via my iphone mail app too.

In that case I would be tempted to get another basic hosting account which you could just use for your emails.

That way you won't usually be limited to the number of mailboxes, and usually just on space and bandwidth.

Who do you use for email hosting?

GoDaddy offer a £1.69 per month option for up to 5 email addresses
http://www.godaddy.com/email/email-hosting.aspx?ci=2655

123 Reg offer a £0.99p per month option but it doesn't mention a limitation of email addresses. Can anyone tell me if there is a limit?

On 123Reg when it says one mailbox i assume this doesn't mean 1 email address?

Are these the best options to consider?

Hi There,

My advice would be to reconsider the ecommerce platform that you are thinking of building your online shop with. It would be better to use an open license platform, such as Prestashop, which puts you in full control of your online shop and in combination with your cPanel account you could then have an unlimited number of free email accounts, all at a probably lower cost than EKMPowershop :)

Please feel free to PM me if you need any more advice on this.

Best Regards,

Tim
