It seems to be luring us down 1 simple path, and that's toward user generated content being the future. And, based on this, we shouldn't bother with hosting, as YouTube is better than spending money.

I actually found the presentation interesting, but certainly don't agree with it all. It's focus is on user generated websites, not the majority of business websites.

For a webhosting presentation, I'm surprised and I feel it is a pity that it didn't touch on the sitebuilder market and the recent trend of webhosting companies offering sitebuilders too, an area that my company has an interest in.
There is a big difference between the personal web hosting market (google pages, myspace, etc) and the professional business webhosting market, something that the presentation didn't really make clear.
Its also a pity that it didn't give details of the big web hosting players in Europe, market share, buyouts, etc (e.g. 1and1, Pipex).
Also for some reason because I have the Flash 9 runtime installed the site's sniffer code seemed to think that I didn't have Flash at all, so it took some messing around for me to see the presentation.

Personally, I feel its a poor presentation. It shows many "snapshots" of the industry, but even they're small considering the market size.
There's also alot I don't agree with... For example Gartner spout out the most obvious advice you can think of, and I'd take their statistics with a pinch of salt.
Mindshare is in decline? What because Google Trends says so? LOL
Even Google state that information is unlikely to be correct as its taken from a small percentage of the results.
Next Referal payments are increasing (up to $100 for hosting payouts) - well yeah, if you add a couple of million more affiliates its bound to push competition upwards.
I don't want to bash it to much, hopefully a speach accompanied the presentation which put the information in context.
