Evening,

I've not used AdWords before and having just tried to setup some ads, it seems their structure is not friendly to the format of my ads.

I have about 15,000 pages I want to setup individual ads for; and each ad will have about 7 keywords. Examples:

Ad 1 -
URL: domain.com/page-1
Keywords: gubbinz, fluff, stuff, items, things

Ad 2 -
URL: domain.com/page-2
Keywords: goats, cows, chickens, sheep, llamas

However, it seems to me that AdWords only lets you create multiple ads and assign a pool of keywords to all of them.

I was hoping I could just generate a CSV and upload. But it seems I would have to create 15,000 ad groups with one ad each and several keywords. This is fine, but is there any way I can do that automatically by uploading a CSV?

Given that this is your first Adwords campaign, can I suggest that you consider a slightly different approach initially.

It is possible to manage massive campaigns, but, it's difficult to do it properly in the early stages before the campaign has generated enough performance data to use an automated management system.

Let me explain.

We typically have a human review our bids on every keyword every day during the first few weeks of a new campaign. We have some custom built software for managing our campaigns, it makes the human review much faster than using the tools Google makes available. Doing this for 100-200 keywords is quick and easy. Doing it for 100 000 would be impossible.

Build a small tightly focussed campaign for just some of those pages. Maybe 100 or so good long-tail keywords, some well crafted adverts and tight relevant adgroups. Then, let it run for a while, and optimize the rest of the sales process. Once you've got it running OK add extra keywords and landing pages.

Will give the editor a try.

Thanks four the advice, though my keywords are all longtails. I'd imagine some of the terms won't get any search in the next 12 months. Most of the terms are also 2p clicks and my general (non-targeted traffic) income per visitor is 8p, so I am just going to jump off the cliff with this.
