My mum is after a TV, nothing special something she can watch coronation street on is about all it has to do.

I jumped on Google, found that Richer Sounds have a Sharp 32inch TV for under £190...bargain i thought.

So....

I got to Richer Sounds, asked if i could buy it.
The manager looked/sounded surprised, then his exact words "Are you sure? I wouldnt go anywhere near it."
I thought this his just his spiel to get me to go for a more expensive TV, so i told him it wasnt for any intensive games or sport or anything just for the soaps for my mum. So he said we have a much better model for £220, i said she just wants the cheapest but in a brand name.

He said well it flickers and the TV is awful, you can have it if you want but we cant accept it back if you decide you dont like it.

I asked if i could see it, his reponse was no because it would then be sold open boxed.

i admit its probably not a huge loss to them, a £200 sale with probably very minimal profit but its a sale none the less.

Now im in 2 minds, is this a very daft sales approach OR is it very clever as in future i will trust their opinion?

Not his choice though - it comes frmo head office presumably.
like the link though which gives the reviews - it seems alright. Im guessing theyre probably just a bit geeky and sit watching their 52 inch HD screens all day so anything else is just rubbish.

I might go and pick it up for her tomorrow after reading those reviews. Seems strange though that im not allowed to see what im buying - must be the only industry that can do that and then not allow you to take it back if it is rubbish.

If they care so little about the consumers as to offer what they know to be garbage quality, why on earth would you ever consider buying from them again.

The fact that they were using bait and switch would have been the icing on the cake, possibly prompting me to find out which watchdog/ombudsman would like to hear the story of these schmucks.

I do like Richer Sounds but I have started to think they have some sort of deal to push LG. Always pushing LG TV over Samsung or any other make.

The 5 year warranty option is a Poo Hot deal

Little update.... I was just passing a shop selling TVs nipped in and seen the same moddle (£10 more expensive), i went with the intent of noticing the jerky picture and i did.

But had they not said anything i dont think i would have noticed and dont think my mum would notice either to be honest. I will see what she says.

I can only speak on personal experience but I used the preston branch when I got my TV and they told me the TV I wanted was good, but for £90 less I can get a one with the same LCD panel but much better sound and more inputs on the back.

I would trust them, it certainly makes me want to go back if I need another TV.
